Strategy before code.
We front-load the plan. We won't touch the build until we know the path, because momentum comes from clarity, not from typing fast.
Field. Form. Function. is a design-led venture studio. Twenty-three years and a dozen companies went into one craft: turning business chaos into software people love to use.
You run the business. We build what moves it forward, and we bet on it with you.
A designer who got obsessed with making things actually work. Over 23+ years, Brian has shipped products, platforms, campaigns, and interactive experiences across industries, from frontline operations tools to consumer apps to museum-floor kiosks.
He has also lived on the other side of the table. Brian has started 12+ companies as a founder and cofounder, sold two, bought one, and helped dozens of startups launch, rebrand, or get systematized, building for everyone from tiny local shops to Fortune 130 companies. He knows what it feels like to bet on an idea, because he has done it again and again.
He builds two kinds of things: experiences people genuinely enjoy using, and systems that bring clarity to operations that have been running on sheer willpower. The best projects are both. He maps the plan before a line of code, brings design and UX into development from day one, and reverse-engineers a backend that supports the experience instead of fighting it.
Based in Costa Rica, grounded by yoga, art, and time in nature. It keeps the work sharp and the process human.
"I see what's ready to flow, map the path, and build the tool that makes it move."Brian Patrick Wcislo, founder
Field. Form. Function. takes a way of working Brian has refined across two decades and a dozen companies, as founder, operator, and builder, and makes it a studio. The belief behind it is simple: most businesses are excellent at what they do, and quietly held back by the tools they have to use. And the "sleepy industries" aren't a market we discovered: seventeen years consulting in facilities services, five running exterior remodeling, four on the front lines of food-and-beverage retail. They're where Brian grew up professionally.
FFF exists to be the third thing. Not an agency that bills hours and walks away. Not a co-founder you have to find by luck. A small, senior, design-led studio that figures out what a product actually needs, builds it to a standard big clients trust, and shares the risk of getting there. In it with you, from possibility to product.
We front-load the plan. We won't touch the build until we know the path, because momentum comes from clarity, not from typing fast.
We nail the experience, then build a system that supports it from the ground up. Never an interface bolted onto whatever was easy to ship.
No perfect brief required. Reading the real opportunity, sometimes before the client has named it, is the job, not a bonus.
A small, senior circle we've worked with for years. We only bring in people whose work we'd gladly put our own name on.
A custom operating system powering a fast-moving facilities-maintenance operation behind one of the world's most recognized brands. Four guided workflows, 19 steps, intake to invoicing. Built in 9 weeks on React, TypeScript, and Supabase.
Tablet-first microlearning, interactive 3D tools, and gamified quizzes that lifted knowledge scores from 50% to 96% across 580+ stores, with role-based dashboards from individual up to region.
A touch-screen kiosk for the museum floor where real truck engineering becomes something families can play with. 60+ configurations and a real-time physics game loop, built for the Da Vinci Science Center.
A friendship-safe lending app that sits between the lend and the ask, with negotiation threads, status tracking, and gentle nudges. Shipped to iOS and Google Play on React Native and Supabase.
Selected work by Brian, with a small circle of trusted collaborators. The studio is the next chapter of it.
He's the person I go to when I have an idea that needs to be brought to life, and every time, he delivers beyond expectations. We wouldn't be where we are today without him.Ryan Nedza · Owner, Associated Restaurant Services
